I tested the Lifecore R100 in a local shop (where the price was much higher than Amazon's), and my impression was yes, this is a good machine- and why shouldn't it be? It's a clone of the Concept II, which is pretty much the standard in rowing machines. The R100 has a magnetic drag system (according to the salesman) but it still has the fan system, and it's just as loud as the Concept II. The biggest difference seems to be that the Lifecore costs $400 more than the Concept II.

I've had a Concept II for almost a decade, and it's still in perfect working order. Every rowing club I know of uses the Concept II. Why pay over 40% more for what is pretty much the same machine?
